Humpback whale seen diving in the waters of southeast Alaska. Adult whales range in size from 40 to 50 feet in length and can weigh up to 79,000 lbs. They are massive animals, yet so beautiful.

Located just 12 miles outside of Juneau. The glacier itself is about 12 miles long, 1.5 miles wide, & 100 feet high. Its source is the Juneau icefield, which extends from north of Juneau to the border of British Columbia, Canada. The Mendenhall Glacier is a receding glacier, which means it "calves" off big pieces of ice, called icebergs.
